
MISSISSIPPI — Two people were killed and another person was flown to a hospital after a crash involving a military bus and a pickup truck in Harrison County, Mississippi, on Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened on Canal Road south of Interstate 10. First responders were called to the scene as emergency crews worked what officials described as a serious accident.
Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Hanna Hendry confirmed at least two people died in the crash. Another person suffered serious injuries and was airlifted for treatment. Multiple other people were reported to have minor injuries.
Naval Battalion Combat Center Public Information Officer Jovi Prevot said the military bus involved was one of three buses traveling together in a convoy. Only one of the buses was involved in the wreck.
Authorities closed part of Canal Road while emergency crews continued working at the scene. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
No additional information about the victims or what caused the crash had been released as of Tuesday evening.
