
MISSISSIPPI — More than 31,000 homes and businesses across Mississippi are without electricity as of Saturday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
The outages affect 31,037 customers statewide, representing about 2.08% of the more than 1.49 million customers tracked. Mississippi currently ranks first in the nation for both the total number of outages and the percentage of customers affected.
Hinds County has the highest number of outages, with 9,668 customers without power. Rankin County follows with 5,156 outages, while Warren County reports 2,476. Other counties with significant outages include Madison (1,639), Forrest (1,552) and Copiah (1,381).
Among utility providers, Entergy reports the largest number of customers affected, with 21,041 outages. Dixie Electric Power Association has 3,351 outages, and Southwest Mississippi Electric Power Association reports 2,407. Southwest Mississippi EPA also has the highest percentage of customers affected, with nearly 9.7% without service.
Restoration efforts are likely ongoing as utility crews work to return power to affected areas.
