MISSISSIPPI — One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Jackson, according to police.
The Jackson Police Department said officers responded around 1 a.m. May 17 to reports of a shooting in the 5100 block of I-55 North.
When officers arrived, they found that a physical altercation involving several males had taken place in the parking lot of The Hideaway. During the altercation, gunfire was exchanged, officials said.
Police located a black Honda Accord at the scene with a Black female inside who had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. She died from her injuries, according to investigators.
Authorities said the victim’s identity is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Two additional victims who suffered gunshot wounds were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment.
The shooting remains under investigation. No additional information has been released.
