
KENTUCKY — A Kentucky man is facing multiple felony charges after a 3-year-old child was hospitalized in critical condition following methamphetamine exposure, according to Kentucky State Police.
Troopers said they were contacted Saturday by Owensboro Regional Health regarding a child who tested positive for meth. Due to the severity of the child’s condition, the toddler was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for additional treatment.
During the investigation, police detained the child’s father, identified as 43-year-old Gary Walker of Owensboro.
According to KSP, Walker was allegedly found carrying synthetic urine concealed in his undergarments that investigators believe was intended to alter a drug test. Troopers also reported discovering a small metal vial containing white residue during a search of his vehicle.
Authorities later executed a search warrant Sunday morning at Walker’s home on Danberry Street in Owensboro. Investigators said they found approximately five grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the residence.
Walker has been charged with criminal simulation, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said the investigation into how the child was exposed to methamphetamine remains ongoing.
Walker was booked into the Daviess County Detention Center and is expected to be arraigned Monday.
