MISSISSIPPI — A Slidell, Louisiana, man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Pearl River County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 6 p.m. on Highway 43.
According to investigators, a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by a woman from Carriere was traveling south on the highway when it collided with a northbound 2015 Kia Soul driven by 46-year-old Jonathan Helmers of Slidell.
Helmers was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition was not immediately released.
Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash. No additional details have been released.
