MISSOURI — A U.S. Postal Service driver was killed in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday evening in Kansas City, and the suspect remains at large, according to police.

The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of East 30th Street and Benton Boulevard, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Investigators said a USPS Dodge van was traveling south on Benton Boulevard when a gray Chevrolet Equinox ran a stop sign while entering the intersection from East 30th Street. The SUV struck the postal vehicle, causing the van to flip onto its driver’s side and partially eject the driver.

The USPS driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene and had not been identified or located as of Thursday morning.

According to KCPD, the crash marked the city’s 26th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 24 at the same point in 2025.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle involved is asked to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
