Two people injured after fight at Florida motel leads to shooting incident

FLORIDA — Two men were injured when a single bullet struck both of them during a fight at a Jacksonville motel early Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Officers were called around 5:40 a.m. to the Regency Inn on Arlington Expressway, where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigators said one man was shot in the arm while the other was struck in the back. Authorities said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Both men were transported to a hospital for treatment.

According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting happened after the two men became involved in a fight at the motel. Investigators said one of the men pulled out a handgun during the altercation.

Police said the fight continued and a woman, who was also armed with a handgun, became involved. During the confrontation, a firearm was discharged, and a single bullet struck both men.

Authorities have not said whether the man or the woman fired the shot.

Everyone involved in the incident has been detained while detectives with the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit continue their investigation.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage and following up on leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
