NORTH CAROLINA — Two people were arrested in Lee County after deputies found drugs and a gun inside a vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday, according to authorities.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the stop occurred on Hawkins Avenue while narcotics agents were investigating citizen complaints about drug activity on Deep River Road.
During the stop, deputies reported finding methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm in the possession of a convicted felon. Authorities said three children were also inside the vehicle at the time.
The two occupants, identified as 41-year-old Zachary Robert Shaw and 28-year-old Lakayla Chasity Davis, were taken into custody.
Shaw is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and is being held without bond.
Davis faces multiple charges, including felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, three counts of exposing a child to a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana up to half an ounce. She is being held on a $31,000 secured bond.
Authorities said both suspects also had outstanding warrants out of Chatham County for larceny.
The investigation remains ongoing.
