The Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, launched an investigation April 24 in the 2000 block of McFarland Road.

During the investigation, officers recovered more than 140 grams of suspected cocaine, along with a handgun, rifle, shotgun and ammunition.

Police arrested 38-year-old Jose Salgado-Ubaldo and 33-year-old Jose Montesinos-Gil without incident.

Both men are charged with armed violence and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The charges were approved by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.
