Two gang members arrested following drug bust in Florida

FLORIDA — Two men are facing multiple drug trafficking charges following a months-long investigation into alleged gang activity, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the investigation targeted members of the Vice Lords gang and included a “buy/bust” operation. During that operation, authorities say 32-year-old Jose Dehoyos delivered approximately two ounces of cocaine to an undercover detective.

Following the controlled purchase, investigators executed search warrants at homes in South Tampa and Davis Islands. During the searches, deputies reported finding about five pounds of cocaine and marijuana, four pistols, multiple prescription pills and roughly $40,000 in cash.

Joshua Dehoyos, 48, was also arrested in connection with the investigation.

Both men are charged with multiple offenses, including trafficking in cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of a two-way communications device and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The investigation spanned approximately two months, authorities said.
