Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — Nearly 8,000 customers across Texas are without electricity Thursday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 7,970 customers statewide are currently without power out of more than 15.3 million tracked customers in Texas.

Collin County is reporting the highest number of outages in the state, with 3,829 customers affected. McLennan County has 1,038 outages, while Nueces County reported 934 customers without electricity.

Other counties with significant outages include Harris County with 822 outages, Fort Bend County with 235 outages and Wichita County with 209 outages.

Oncor reported the highest number of customers without service among Texas utilities, with 5,327 outages statewide. CenterPoint Energy reported 1,083 outages, while American Electric Power Texas listed 962 customers without power.

PowerOutage.us said Texas currently ranks second in the nation for the total number of outages and 14th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Utility crews continue working Thursday morning to restore service to affected homes and businesses across the state.
