Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — Nearly 9,500 customers across Texas are without electricity Saturday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 9,458 homes and businesses statewide are currently without power, affecting about 0.06% of the more than 15.6 million customers tracked across Texas.

Texas currently has the third-highest number of power outages in the country, according to the outage tracking website.

Nueces County is reporting the largest number of outages statewide, with 4,457 customers without electricity. Hidalgo County follows with 1,645 outages, while Jim Hogg County reports 680 customers without power. Starr County has 568 outages, and Harris County reports 472.

Among utility providers, American Electric Power Texas reports the largest number of outages, with 7,422 customers currently affected. Oncor reports 571 outages, while CenterPoint Energy reports 526 customers without electricity.

PowerOutage.us said the outage numbers were updated within the last several minutes Saturday morning and may continue to change as restoration efforts continue.

Utility crews are working to restore service.
