INDIANA — More than 5,000 customers are without power across Indiana as of Wednesday morning, according to outage tracking data.
Figures from PowerOutage.us show approximately 5,058 homes and businesses are currently without electricity statewide, representing about 0.15% of the more than 3.2 million customers tracked.
The outages are concentrated in the northern part of the state, with Lake County reporting the highest number at around 2,205 customers affected. Porter County follows with roughly 1,398 outages, while LaPorte County is reporting about 1,065 customers without power.
Utility data shows Northern Indiana Public Service Company accounts for the majority of outages, reporting more than 4,600 customers in the dark. Other providers, including Jackson County REMC and Duke Energy, are also reporting smaller, scattered outages.
Statewide, Indiana ranks among the top states for outages Wednesday, placing fifth in total outages and sixth in percentage of customers affected nationwide, according to the data.
Restoration efforts are ongoing, and residents are encouraged to report outages to their local utility providers and avoid downed power lines.
