ALABAMA — More than 10,000 customers are without power across Alabama as of Wednesday morning, according to outage tracking data.

Figures from PowerOutage.us show approximately 10,088 homes and businesses are currently without electricity statewide, representing about 0.39% of the more than 2.6 million customers tracked.

The outages are spread across multiple counties, with Jefferson County reporting the highest number at around 1,510 customers affected. Other hard-hit areas include Walker County with about 1,296 outages, Fayette County with roughly 1,196, and Etowah County with more than 1,000 customers without power.

Utility data shows Alabama Power accounts for the majority of outages, reporting over 9,200 customers in the dark. Smaller providers, including Tombigbee Electric Cooperative and Cullman Electric Cooperative, are also reporting scattered outages.

Statewide, Alabama ranks among the highest in the nation for outages Wednesday, placing second both in total outages and percentage of customers affected, according to the data.

Restoration efforts are ongoing. Residents are encouraged to report outages to their local utility provider and use caution around downed power lines.
