ALABAMA — A Texas man was killed in a head-on crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV Monday evening in Shelby County, according to state authorities.
The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. on Shelby County 10 near Shelby County 22, approximately three miles north of Montevallo.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 32-year-old Melvin Fabicio Acevedo Alvarado of Conroe, Texas, was operating a Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle when it collided head-on with a Nissan Pathfinder.
Troopers said Alvarado was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a Montevallo man, was injured in the crash and transported to Baptist Health Shelby Hospital in Alabaster for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
