Part of I-95 in Maryland shut down following vehicle crash

MARYLAND — A crash is currently causing a major closure on Interstate 95 southbound in Howard County, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.

The two-vehicle crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. Friday just past Exit 41A at Maryland Route 175 (Waterloo Road).

As a result of the crash, all southbound travel lanes, on-ramps and shoulders in the area are currently closed. First responders remain at the scene.

Transportation officials have not released information regarding injuries.

The Maryland State Highway Administration said motorists should expect an extended closure while emergency crews work at the scene and investigate the crash.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway reopens.

The crash remains under investigation.
