NORTH CAROLINA — A SWAT operation in McDowell County resulted in the seizure of cocaine, a firearm and other evidence, leading to the arrest of a Marion man, according to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said its SWAT Team executed a drug search warrant early Thursday at the home of 49-year-old Marlone Laquinn Carson in Marion.
During the search, deputies reported finding and seizing 41 grams of cocaine, 1 gram of crack cocaine, marijuana, an AR-15 rifle and ammunition.
Carson was arrested following the search and faces multiple charges, including trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling, vehicle or place for controlled substances, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Authorities said Carson was taken into custody and issued a $140,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing. All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
