
TENNESSEE — A crash involving a tractor-trailer and several other vehicles is causing significant traffic delays on Interstate 40 in Jefferson County Wednesday evening.
According to the Dandridge Fire Department, the crash occurred on westbound I-40 near mile marker 419 shortly before 5 p.m.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s SmartWay traffic map showed the right lane blocked as of approximately 5:20 p.m., resulting in traffic backups extending onto Interstate 81.
Officials said the crash involved a tractor-trailer and multiple passenger vehicles, but the exact number of vehicles involved has not been released.
Authorities have not provided information on any injuries or the conditions of those involved.
Emergency crews remain on the scene, and motorists are being urged to use caution while traveling through the area.
“Motorists are urged to use extreme caution in the area, expect delays, and consider alternate routes if possible,” the Dandridge Fire Department said. “Please slow down, stay alert, and move over for emergency responders working on the scene.”
