NORTH CAROLINA — An overturned septic truck has shut down an entrance ramp to Interstate 40 from Interstate 540 on Friday afternoon, causing disruptions for drivers near Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
Authorities said the truck overturned on the I-40 on-ramp, spilling the contents of its tank onto the roadway. The incident prompted officials to close Exit 1B, which is expected to remain shut down for the foreseeable future as crews work to clear the scene.
Durham police reported that the driver was not injured in the crash. Emergency crews responded to contain the spill and manage traffic in the area.
Officials have not released additional details about what caused the truck to overturn. The investigation remains ongoing.
