OHIO — A crash has shut down the express lanes on Interstate 271 North during Friday morning’s commute in the Cleveland area, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash happened on I-271 North Express just beyond the Cedar Road and Brainard Road exit in Beachwood.
ODOT said all express lanes are closed as crews respond to the scene, causing major traffic slowdowns during the morning commute.
Officials also reported another crash on I-271 North near U.S. 322 and Mayfield Road that contributed to congestion beginning around 8 a.m.
Traffic camera images from OHGO showed heavy backups in the area Friday morning.
Authorities have not released details about what caused the crashes or whether anyone was injured.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while crews work to clear the scene.
