
VIRGINIA — A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle late Tuesday night in Chesterfield County, according to the Chesterfield County Police Department.
Officers responded at 9:42 p.m. on April 14 to the 7300 block of Midlothian Turnpike for a reported crash involving a pedestrian.
Police said a gray 2018 Nissan Sentra was traveling west on Midlothian Turnpike when it struck a pedestrian. A preliminary investigation indicates the woman, who has not yet been identified, was attempting to cross the roadway at the time of the collision.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The westbound lanes of Midlothian Turnpike between Stonebridge Plaza Avenue and Granite Spring Road were closed for several hours as first responders investigated the crash.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of her family.
