
SOUTH CAROLINA — A 79-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night in Aiken County, according to authorities.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Larry Callahan, of Windsor.
Officials said the crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Colbert Bridge Road. According to investigators, Callahan was riding a moped eastbound when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.
Callahan was pronounced dead at 10:17 p.m. at the scene from blunt force injuries. Authorities said an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted later this week in Newberry.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
