NORTH CAROLINA — A 32-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday night in Iredell County, according to authorities.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Caleb Seth Pender of Statesville.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Midway Road near Storm Lane. A 2002 Honda CBR600 motorcycle was traveling west when it ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a fence, overturned and ejected the operator.
Pender was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators said speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
Midway Road was closed for approximately one hour while troopers conducted their on-scene investigation.
