GEORGIA — Two people have been taken into custody following a double shooting early Wednesday morning on Edgewood Avenue, according to Atlanta police.
Officers responded around 1:10 a.m. to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and Hilliard Street. When officers arrived, they found one man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and a second man with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Investigators said the violence stemmed from an argument between two groups on Edgewood Avenue.
According to police, one man involved in the dispute pulled out a gun and was subsequently shot in the chest by someone from the opposing group.
Police said the wounded man’s girlfriend then pursued members of the other group and began firing her boyfriend’s gun. Investigators said she shot one of the men in the leg during the chase.
Both suspected shooters were taken into custody, and charges are pending.
Authorities shut down part of Edgewood Avenue while officers processed the scene and conducted their investigation. The scene was cleared shortly before 5:45 a.m.
The investigation remains ongoing.
