One person injured following attempted robbery in Virginia

VIRGINIA — One person was injured in an attempted robbery early Wednesday morning in Lynchburg, according to police.

Officers and first responders were called to the 2500 block of Memorial Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on May 20 after reports of shots being fired at a gaming facility.

Police said one person was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators said the shooting happened after an individual attempted to rob the victim and an altercation broke out before gunfire erupted.

The investigation remains ongoing.
