
TEXAS — A man was critically injured after being shot while walking his dog early Wednesday morning near downtown, according to San Antonio police.
Officers responded around 5:30 a.m. to the 900 block of East Euclid Avenue, near North St. Mary’s Street, after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, described as a doctor in his 30s, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police said the man had been walking his dog when the shooting occurred. Investigators have not determined whether the shot was fired from a vehicle or by someone on foot.
Authorities said a person at a nearby apartment complex came to the man’s aid after hearing the gunfire.
The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Officers are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area as they continue to investigate. No suspect information has been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
