
VIRGINIA — A 40-year-old Petersburg man was killed and two others were injured in a crash early Sunday morning in Nottoway County, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash occurred around 1:55 a.m. on May 3 along Route 460 eastbound, just east of Cox Road. Police said a 2024 Kia sedan ran off the left side of the roadway and struck two trees.
Authorities identified the victim as Clarence Eugene Jones Jr., 40, of Petersburg. He was flown to a Richmond hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police said Jones was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver, a 37-year-old man from Prince George County, and a 40-year-old female passenger were also airlifted to a Richmond hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
