MINNESOTA — A man is dead and a police officer was injured following an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday morning in Richfield.
According to the Richfield Police Department, officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to a report of a car prowler in the 7500 block of Morgan Avenue. Police say they located a suspect, who fled on foot, prompting officers to pursue him.
During the chase, authorities said the suspect brandished a firearm, and gunfire was exchanged. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An officer was shot in the hand during the incident and is currently recovering, police said.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation due to the officer-involved nature of the shooting.
Officials have not released the identities of those involved, and the investigation remains ongoing.
