WISCONSIN — A motorcyclist was killed Monday evening in a head-on crash in Vilas County, according to authorities.
The crash happened around 7:08 p.m. on State Highway 155 just south of South Lost Lake Drive in the town of St. Germain, according to the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said a 911 caller reported the crash and stated the motorcycle operator was unresponsive. The first deputy to arrive found the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
Investigators said the driver of the car involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A preliminary investigation found the 64-year-old motorcyclist was traveling north on Highway 155 when he went around a curve, crossed the center line and collided head-on with the car, authorities said.
The motorcyclist’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is leading the crash investigation. Authorities said the sheriff’s office was assisted by the state patrol, St. Germain Fire/Rescue and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office.
