VIRGINIA — A 53-year-old Martinsville man died after a single-vehicle crash in Henry County, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash happened around 10:25 p.m. Friday on Joseph Martin Highway, about three-tenths of a mile west of Greensboro Road.
State police said a 2012 Ford F-150 was traveling west on Joseph Martin Highway when the truck ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment.
The driver, identified as Alvin Lee Jones Jr., 53, of Martinsville, was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators said Jones was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Virginia State Police said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
