
ILLINOIS — Interstate 74 eastbound in Champaign remains closed Wednesday after a serious crash near the Interstate 57 interchange, according to Illinois State Police.
The crash happened near milepost 179 on I-74 East in Champaign.
Illinois State Police said the interstate is expected to remain shut down for several hours as troopers handle the crash scene and lane blockage.
Traffic on I-74 eastbound at the I-57 interchange is being diverted onto Interstate 57 southbound.
Officials said drivers traveling south on I-57 should use Curtis Road to access Champaign, while northbound I-57 traffic can use either Curtis Road or the Market Street exit.
Motorists traveling between Mahomet and Champaign are being urged to seek alternate routes and expect significant delays.
Authorities have not released details about the crash or said whether there were any injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
