NORTH CAROLINA — A juvenile is facing multiple charges after a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash Monday in Huntersville, according to police.

The incident began around 5 p.m. when a Flock camera, an automated license plate reader system, alerted Huntersville officers to a stolen vehicle in the area.

Police said officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit.

During the chase, authorities said the driver avoided a tire deflation device before losing control along the 6000 block of Sample Road. The vehicle struck an embankment and then crashed head-on into another vehicle.

Officials said no injuries were reported in the crash.

After the collision, the driver ran from the scene but was quickly taken into custody with assistance from a K-9 unit.

Police said the juvenile suspect is facing numerous charges, including felony fleeing to elude, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony hit and run, carrying a concealed gun, possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of burglary tools, possession of a counterfeit instrument, drug charges, reckless driving and driving without a license.

Huntersville Police said stolen property was also recovered during the investigation.
