FLORIDA — A Port Orange man was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a pickup truck at a Volusia County intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. at the intersection of International Speedway Boulevard and Kepler Road.

Troopers said a 2019 Ford F-150 driven by a 20-year-old man from Lake Helen was traveling northbound in the left turn lane on Kepler Road and was turning onto International Speedway Boulevard when the crash occurred.

According to FHP, a 46-year-old pedestrian from Port Orange was waiting on the sidewalk and attempted to cross International Speedway Boulevard from north to south. Troopers said the pedestrian entered the path of the truck and failed to yield the right of way.

The front of the pickup truck struck the pedestrian, authorities said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.

FHP said the driver remained at the scene and was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
