
SOUTH CAROLINA — A driver traveling the wrong way was found dead Thursday morning after crashing into the woods in North Charleston, according to police.
Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded around 5:39 a.m. after receiving an iPhone crash notification near U.S. Highway 52 and NAD Road.
Investigators said the SUV had veered off the roadway and crashed into a wooded area. The driver, who was the only person inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver.
The North Charleston Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash to determine what led up to it.
