FLORIDA — A 49-year-old man was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Lakeland, according to the Lakeland Police Department.
Police said Justin Hackney was driving a Ford F-150 westbound on Ariana Street shortly after 9 a.m. when the truck crossed into the eastbound lanes, left the roadway and struck a tree in a parking lot.
Officers with the Lakeland Police Department, Polk County Fire Rescue and the Lakeland Fire Department responded to the scene and began life-saving measures.
Hackney was taken to Lakeland Regional Health, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The Lakeland Traffic Homicide Unit investigated the crash scene, which forced the closure of eastbound Ariana Street for about 30 minutes.
