FLORIDA — An 18-year-old was killed in a head-on collision Monday night in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred just before 9 p.m. on U.S. 301 north of County Road 656.
Investigators said the teen, who was from Wildwood, was driving a truck northbound when the vehicle crossed into the center lane and collided nearly head-on with another truck traveling southbound. The second vehicle was driven by a 28-year-old man from Webster, authorities said.
The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
