OHIO — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with threats made during a football-related incident in Youngstown last year, according to police.

Boardman police said Alfred Coward was taken into custody Tuesday and is charged with inciting to violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Authorities said the charges stem from an incident reported Oct. 3, 2025, while a football team was at the South Field House on Market Street.

According to a Youngstown police report, a coach identified a suspect running from the area while carrying a rifle. Police said the suspect got into a Hyundai Sonata and drove toward a police cruiser, forcing the officer to move to avoid being hit. The vehicle then continued into Mill Creek Park, where officers lost sight of it.

Investigators said coaches and a victim reported that three individuals, including Coward, came to the field house with a rifle and made threats to kill everyone inside. While one suspect pointed the rifle at a victim, Coward and another person allegedly attempted to fight the victim.

Police said the suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. Authorities also noted the individuals were reportedly involved in a fight the day before on Carroll Street.

Coward is scheduled to appear for arraignment Wednesday in Youngstown Municipal Court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
