SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and another was injured Saturday after a crash involving a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) in the Meggett area, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the crash occurred at approximately 11 a.m. near the intersection of Church Flats Road and Archfield Avenue.
According to investigators, the UTV was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while navigating a curve. The vehicle then overturned, ejecting the driver.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity.
A passenger in the UTV was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash.
