IOWA — One person was killed and another seriously injured following a crash involving a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) and a truck Sunday night near Lake City, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Authorities say the incident occurred on April 12 after a verbal altercation at a residence. A UTV driven by 21-year-old Roger King, of Lytton, left the scene and began traveling west on 290th Street. A truck driven by 21-year-old Jaxyn Blum, of Rockwell City, followed behind.
At approximately 9 p.m., investigators say the truck struck the UTV, causing it to roll multiple times.
King and his passenger, 19-year-old Kyle Rath, of Auburn, were both ejected from the vehicle. Rath was pronounced dead at the scene. King sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment.
Authorities say Blum left the scene of the crash but was located several hours later.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
