
VIRGINIA — A vehicle caught fire following a crash on Interstate 64 eastbound near Camp Peary on Thursday afternoon, causing traffic delays in the area.
According to officials, the crash impacted traffic along the eastbound lanes, closing the right shoulder and narrowing access to Exit 238. The Virginia Department of Transportation warned motorists to expect delays as crews responded to the scene.
By around 5 p.m., traffic had backed up approximately 1.5 miles.
Photos from the scene show a vehicle overturned on its side beyond a guardrail and fully engulfed in flames. The extent of injuries and the number of vehicles involved have not yet been confirmed.
The crash remains under investigation.
