WISCONSIN — One person was killed and another was injured in a motorcycle crash in Jefferson County on Saturday evening, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched at 7:47 p.m. to the area of U.S. Highway 18 and Bakertown Road, just west of Helenville, after receiving a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle motorcycle crash.

When deputies arrived, they found the motorcycle in a ditch on the north side of Highway 18.

A preliminary investigation determined the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Highway 18 when it entered the gravel shoulder along the north side of the roadway. Authorities said the operator attempted to return to the highway but was unable to regain control, causing the motorcycle to crash.

Two people were riding the motorcycle at the time of the crash. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The second rider was transported by ambulance to Aurora Summit Hospital for treatment.

The condition of the injured person has not been released.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the crash. No additional information has been released.
