
NEW JERSEY — A pedestrian was killed early Friday in a hit-and-run crash, according to authorities.
Police responded around 12:49 a.m. to the intersection of Essex Street and Summit Avenue after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Officers found an adult man suffering from serious injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle. Authorities said the driver fled the scene after the crash.
The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and investigators with the Bergen County Fatal Accident Task Force are assisting Hackensack Police Department in the investigation.
