KANSAS — One person was killed and two others were possibly injured in a crash involving a lawnmower and a utility terrain vehicle in Washington County, Kansas, authorities said.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 8:28 p.m. Saturday on Indian Road west of Linn.
Investigators said a John Deere lawnmower was stopped on the east side of the road facing northbound when a Polaris Ranger UTV traveling north approached it.
The highway patrol said the lawnmower turned left in front of the UTV, causing the side-by-side to strike the mower.
The driver of the lawnmower, a 50-year-old man from Linn, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the UTV was occupied by a 37-year-old man and a 9-year-old boy, both from Linn. Both were reported to have possible injuries. Investigators said neither occupant was wearing a safety restraint.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
