TEXAS — Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred Monday night on the Gulf Freeway.
According to the Houston Police Department, the crash happened around 9:40 p.m. June 1 in the 3400 block of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45).
Investigators said a silver Nissan Sentra was traveling southeast on the freeway and attempting to exit at Scott Street when a pedestrian tried to cross the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.
The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department. His identity has not been released pending notification of family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Police said the Nissan driver remained at the scene, showed no signs of intoxication and cooperated with investigators. After being questioned, the driver was released.
The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the crash. No additional information has been released.
