
NORTH CAROLINA — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a train Thursday afternoon in Hickory, according to the Hickory Police Department.
The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. near a train crossing between Union Square and Hickory Station.
Police said the victim was walking from the south side of the railroad tracks when they were struck by the train.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.
No additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision were immediately available.
