VIRGINIA — A woman was arrested following two separate traffic stops in Rockbridge County that led to the discovery of methamphetamine, according to the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies, along with agents from the James River Regional Drug Task Force, first conducted a traffic stop on Feb. 7 in the 4400 block of South Lee Highway. During that stop, a K-9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs, and a search of the vehicle uncovered about 30 grams of methamphetamine.
The driver was identified as 45-year-old Jessica Broughman. Officials said charges were initially deferred pending analysis by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science.
Investigators later conducted a second traffic stop involving Broughman on April 19 near Interstate 81 at Exit 156. A K-9 again alerted to drugs, and authorities said an additional 13.5 grams of methamphetamine were found.
Broughman was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. She was taken to the Botetourt County Jail on a secure bond.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected.
