Two people arrested after speeding at nearly 140 MPH in Florida

FLORIDA — A traffic stop early Saturday morning in Crestview led to multiple arrests after a driver was clocked traveling 137 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the incident occurred on State Road 85 near Live Oak Church Road.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Jim Mitchell of Pensacola, was arrested and charged with excessive speed of 100 mph or more. Authorities said he was driving a black 2006 Audi at the time of the stop.

A passenger in the vehicle, 25-year-old Akeem Malik Finlay of Baker, was also arrested. Deputies said Finlay faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Officials added that Finlay was also placed on hold for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The incident remains under investigation.
