FLORIDA — A St. Petersburg man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said 27-year-old Christopher Gage Everson was taken into custody Thursday and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
Investigators said Everson fled the scene of a crash that killed a teenage motorist and injured another driver. Authorities later determined Everson used a rideshare service to leave the scene with his 8-year-old son and return home.
FHP said Everson is charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and failure to register a motor vehicle. He was also cited for multiple traffic infractions.
The other driver involved in the crash, identified as Garry Baptiste, remains hospitalized and was cited for careless driving.
The crash remains under investigation.
