MISSISSIPPI — A review of available 2025-26 Mississippi public school calendars shows many districts across the state are scheduled to finish classes during May 2026, with several ending before Memorial Day.
Among the earliest ending dates found was May 20, 2026, listed for Grenada School District in a published school calendar summary.
Several districts are scheduled to conclude classes on May 21, 2026. A detailed school calendar published by Lincoln County School District lists May 21 as the last day of school for students, followed by a teacher workday on May 22.
A large number of Mississippi districts plan to end the school year on May 22, 2026. Okolona Municipal Separate School District lists May 22 as the student’s last day and the date for high school graduation ceremonies.
Oxford School District also scheduled May 22, 2026 as the last day for students, with an early dismissal and report cards issued that day.
In central Mississippi, Copiah County School District lists May 22 as graduation day and a 60% instructional day for students.
Along the Gulf Coast, DeSoto County Schools currently lists May 25, 2026 as the final student day of the school year.
Leake County School District plans to conclude classes on May 26, 2026, with teacher professional development days scheduled afterward.
On the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Jackson County School District lists May 27, 2026 as a 60% day for students and the official end of the second semester and fourth term.
The review also found Laurel School District scheduled to finish classes on May 29, 2026, with the district calendar marking the day as the “End of 4th Term/Last Day of School.”
