PENNSYLVANIA — Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is expected to announce charges Friday in connection with what authorities describe as a large-scale drug distribution and illegal gun manufacturing operation in Northeast Philadelphia.

According to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, the investigation led to the seizure of firearms, ammunition, narcotics and thousands of dollars in cash.

The announcement is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Pennsylvania State Police Troop K headquarters on Belmont Avenue.

Officials said members of the Dangerous Drug Offenders Unit and the Gun Violence Task Force were involved in the investigation. Pennsylvania State Police also assisted in the case.

Assistant District Attorneys William Fritze, Paul Reddel and Stephen Girman are expected to join Krasner during the press conference.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspects, the number of defendants involved or the specific charges they face.

The District Attorney’s Office said additional details about the investigation and arrests will be released during Friday’s announcement.
